The senior women and under 15 girls held their own against some of the top club athletes in southern England.

Seniors Nicole Bowring and Dawn Wilson annihilated the field in the 400 metres A and B races. Nicole romped home in a personal best time of 56.7sec while Dawn was first past the post in a time of 58.2sc.

Gemma Clarke took an amazing five seconds off her personal best to finish second in the 400m hurdles A race and also came second in the 100m hurdles. But Gemma was pipped to the post by team-mate Hayley Stubberfield who broke her personal best in a time of 19.8sec.

Susan Cooper made her debut in the 1,500m and ran a fine race to come in third, while Nikki Baker smashed her personal best by six seconds in the B race.

Ellie Blackwell won the senior B 200m sprint before leading off the senior 4x100m relay and handing over to Christina Mantoura, Sonja Bye and Dawn Wilson. The foursome finished in third place - an impressive performance when you consider three of the girls are only 15-year-olds.

And in the senior field events Hayley Stubberfield high jumped 1m 50cm to clinch second place and Catherine Tipson hurled the discus to a personal best distance of 25m 31cm to take third.

The seniors finished third overall in the A-string field competition, while in the under 15 events there were outstanding wins for 12-year-old Ella Fisher in the 1,500m and Layla Hawkins in the high jump.

Lizzie Kenny's debut run in the 600m saw her take second while another debutante, Ricki Shehu, came third in the 100m sprint before teaming up with Lucie Cross, Lizzie Kenny and Layla Hawkins to take second in the sprint relay.

And spare a thought for Jordan Pesou who bravely threw 7m 42cm in the ladies shot-putt event despite her arm still being painful from an infection.
