Commuters were left irritated this morning when they discovered the Croydon Tramlink had been suspended.
Posters at tram stops informed angry passengers the entire system had been shut down as a result to technical problems.
According to Tramtrack Croydon, the company which runs the system, the fault - a power shortage - was only discovered at around 5am this morning.
Roger Harding, Tramtrack Croydon's general manager, told the Croydon Guardian he is hopeful trams will be running again this evening with a complete service being in place tomorrow, but he urged commuters to check before starting their journeys.
Anyone who wants to check the status of the tram system can call either Transport for London on 020 7222 1234 or Tramtrack Croydon on 020 8681 8300.
