Wandsworth residents can question key decision makers on the Thames Tunnel project at a public meeting in Putney this week.

Thames Water has recently launched its phase two consultation on the ‘super sewer’ scheme which includes several major construction sites in Wandsworth and one just over the borough boundary at Barn Elms.

Head of the Thames Tunnel project Phil Stride and Thames Water's External Affairs and Sustainability Director Richard Aylard will be at the meeting to present their revised plans and to take questions from local people.

Ravi Govindia, leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “We’ve made some good progress since the first consultation - especially at Barn Elms which has been taken off the list of ‘preferred sites’ for a main drive shaft. However, we can take nothing for granted and must use this meeting to remind Thames Water how strongly we feel about protecting this greenfield site.

“It’s very important that local people have a full understanding of how this long and complex project will affect them."

The event is free to attend and take place at 7.30pm this Thursday (Dec 8) at St Mary’s Church, Putney High Street.
