An ex-Royal Marine is attempting the fastest ever four man row across the Atlantic in the Royal Navy’s smallest registered ship.

Weybridge’s Jason Howard-Ady, 47, will be away for Christmas as he undertakes the ambitious challenge to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

He will be joined by three other ex-Royal Marines on the row from the Canary Islands to Barbados to raise £75,000 for the charity.

The foursome, named the Prostate Marksmen, are due to set sail on December 15 and, depending on weather conditions, are scheduled to arrive in the Caribbean six to 12 weeks later. Mr Howard-Ady said: “After nearly two years of planning the trip we cannot wait to jump aboard our boat, HM&S Twiggy, and enjoy the journey.

“Although we will all miss our families over the festive holiday, we all feel it will be worth it when our mission is accomplished, both with raising money for the Prostate Cancer Charity and reaching the other side.”

The men have raised £35,000 so far through rowathons and raffles.
