Church members collected a ton of clothes yesterday to raise funds for a children's charity.

The Declutter and Do Good event, held in Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill, was organised by members of the Inglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Church who were collecting clothes on behalf of the NSPCC.

Members of the church based in Parkgate Road, invited members of the public to declutter their wardrobes and get rid of their unwanted clothes.

The clothes will now be sold across Europe by partner charity Clothes Aid, with the profits being donated to help prevent child cruelty.

About 200 bags of clothing were collected yesterday, with hundreds of church members and guests showing up.

The event also helped benefit the environment as the clothes are not thrown away and do not go to landfill sites.

Darwin Buyson, speaking on behalf of INC said: "The event was a great success, it was a combination of inviting visitors and guests to our church - it has gone really well."
