A distraught mother has branded the man who sexually assaulted her daughter “a monster”.

John Davis, 65, was jailed for a year at Croydon Crown Court last week after admitting to three counts of sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder.

She said: “I cannot even call him a man. He is not fit to be called one. I don’t know what he is.

“I implicitly trusted him. You cannot trust someone more than with your own child. He’s made a mockery of religion and morals. Sixty years in isolation would not be enough for him.”

Churchgoer Davis, of Glenthorne Close, previously drove for Sutton Council, and abused the girl over a two-year period.

The mother spoke candidly about how Davis has forced a wedge between her and her daughter, and how she still refuses to talk to her mother about the incidents.

The mother explained how Davis and his “sick” behaviour had torn the family apart.

She said: “When the abuse started, my daughter obviously began acting differently.

“I thought she was just being a typical teenager. But we were arguing in the house a lot, and it caused huge tension within the home and caused my other daughter to move out.

“I can’t help feeling partly to blame, I put my daughter into the lion’s jaws, it makes me feel like a bad parent.”

She described how, since the court case ended last week, the family have been able to smile for “what seems like the first time in years”.

The mother said: “We hope to save up some money and take her away soon so we can try to forget about all this.”

Davis was sacked by Sutton Council last year, after the allegations, which had nothing to do with his work there, came to light in 2010.

He pleaded guilty on December 14 last year. He has been placed on the sexual offenders register for 10 years.
