Notts County striker Lee Hughes has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a female at a Croydon hotel.
The 35-year-old from River Crescent, Nottingham, was staying at the Aerodrome Hotel, Purley Way, on December 3 when the alleged incident took place.
Mr Hughes elected for his trial to be heard at Croydon Crown court in front of a jury.
He was released on unconditional bail and will return to Croydon Magistrates Court on March 21.
Notts County were due to play Sutton United in the second round of the FA Cup the day after the alleged assault, they won the fixture 2-0.
