A former film extra has won support from stars of Strictly Come Dancing in his latest charity walk.
John Dodd raised £272 after walking five days from the birth place of English actor and singer Mark Wynter in Woking to the former home of the 60s pop star in Kent.
The 66-year-old from Surbiton received sponsorship for the trek along the way, as well as from the cast of Funny Peculiar and dancers Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone.
The pensioner said he waited for hours outside a stage door to meet Mr Simone, but that it was worth it for the funds, which will go towards Diabetes UK, St Christopher’s Hospice and Lucy Air Ambulance for Children.
Mr Dodd’s passion for showbusiness has led him across the country in a series of themed charity walks, including a 340-mile hike across the Cotswolds dressed as Santa.
He said he would celebrate his birthday in two weeks with an eight-day walk to mark the anniversary of Shadows guitarist Jet Harris’s death.
