Parents are being asked if they want a free primary school to open in Balham.

Constable Educational Trust Primary Schools (CETPS) wants to open a school there, after identifying it as an area where there is a demand for additional primary school places.

It is proposed to open the school in September 2013, with pupils being taught the National Curriculum, Modern Foreign Languages, sports, ICT and creative subjects.

There will be a focus on mainstream education and support for high academic achievement.

The school ethos will also "ensure early identification and intervention where children showed problems with language, literacy and processing."

CETPS has 17 years of experience in running an independent school and is planning to open two free schools in Tower Hamlets in September.

Board member Ronda Fogel has experience of setting up The Moat School in Fulham.

Chairman of CETPS, Richard Simmon, said: "We have a huge amount of experience in opening and running a highly successful school and we are convinced that we can use that experience to enhance the educational choices on offer in Balham."

Parents with children aged between three to five-years-old before August 31 2012 can visit cetps.co.uk to register interest.
