Twenty new midwives have joined Ashford and St Peter’s hospitals in the past six months.
Working across different areas of care in the community, the new recruits are enthusiastic about their opportunities in Chertsey and Ashford.
Lauren Troughton said: “Everyone was so friendly when I came for my interview that I knew I wanted to work here and they’ve been supportive ever since.”
Virginia Roderick added: “They’ve really helped all of us to settle in quickly.”
Head of midwifery at the Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sandra Houston, said: “I am a nurse, midwife and qualified teacher and really believe that midwifery is one of the most special jobs in the world.
“We always want to modernise and improve and one thing I am very keen to do is establish a local user group.”
