A teenager who stabbed a boy hours after appearing in court accused of attacking a man with a knife, has been jailed for 14 years.

Nathan McLeod of Brook Road, Thornton Heath, was found guilty of murdering Temiyado Ogunneye, following a trial at the Old Bailey last month.

The court heard how McLeod stabbed the 15-year-old with a kitchen knife at flats at Cormont Road, Camberwell on May 11 last year.

McLeod had been part of a group of youths who had robbed the victim and his friend earlier in the day.

Temidayo, known as Dayo, had gone to the flats to get his mobile back and was stabbed after slipping on damp grass.

The court heard McLeod had already appeared at Camberwell Youth Court that morning, accused of attacking a gas man who had come to service the boiler.

He was given an eight month detention and training order.

Sentencing McLeod, His Honour Judge Gordon said: "My view is that having been beaten in an ordinary fist fight you were not going to be beaten again.

"You may not have intended to kill but you ended the life of another 15-year-old and brought inevitably tragedy to his family."

McLeod was also sentenced to 27 months in respect of the two robberies, the sentence will run concurrently.

Darius Kwayke, 19, of Camberwell, was previously cleared of Temidayo’s murder but found guilty of two counts of robbery in taking his and a friend’s phone.

He was sentenced to 24 months in a young offenders institution.

Kieron Carew-Donaldson, 19, earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery.

He was sentenced to 20 months detention in a young offenders institution.

A victim impact statement from Temidayo’s father Babjide Ogunneye said: “Dayo's death has devastated us all.

"It has left a huge void in our lives."
