A man has been evicted from his council home after drugs raids found cocaine and heroin stashes.

Croydon Council has evicted a man from his Upper Norwood council home, and closed the property for three months after two raids found large quantities of Class A Drugs.

A closure order was obtained from Croydon Magistrates Court on March 16 after council officers and police presented evidence drugs were being used at the address.

The court heard the Upper Norwood and Norbury Safer Neighbourhood Teams carried out a first raid on November 24 last year and seized crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

A second raid on February 1 again found drugs at the home.

A man has been arrested and charged with intent to supply.

He has been bailed, and is due in court on April 27.

Sergeant Andrew Inglis from the Upper Norwood SNT said: "Having received intelligence that this address might have been linked to drugs, we've executed two warrants and recovered a considerable amount of drugs both times.

“Working with colleagues from the council, we've now been able to close this address down, which will make the area a safer place for local residents.”
