The motorcyclist who was killed on Saturday after a collision with a people carrier has been named as Nickolas Amor.

The 21-year-old died that night at St George's Hospital despite the valiant attempts of paramedics to resuscitate him.

The incident happened outside the Clapham Grand music venue at the junction of St John's Hill and Severus Road, in Battersea, at about 10pm.

Mr Amor was riding a black and grey Yamaha R1 when it collided with the people carrier Teacher Jamie Trueman, was with friends when they passed the crash site. He said: "We saw the man on a stretcher with an oxygen mask and bandages on his face being wheeled into the ambulance.

"But as we went further up (St John's Hill) we saw the bike, which the front was a total wreck and there was sand on the floor presumably to cover up blood that was on the road."

A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "Extensive efforts were made to resucitate him both at the scene and on the way to the Major Trauma Centre at St George's Hospital."

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as multiple injuries, an inquest has been opened and adjourned at Fulham Coroner's Court.

The incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's roads death investigation unit.

Detective Sergeant Jeff Edwards, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am grateful for a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist Nickolas that night.

"This stretch of road was fairly busy with commuters at that time and I would urge anyone who may have seen any of the parties in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police."
