Jermaine Easter made a frank assessment of his Crystal Palace season so far this week - saying it was nothing more than OK.

The Welsh striker scored his first goal since New Year's Eve on Tuesday as the Eagles drew 1-1 with Doncaster Rovers at Selhurst Park - ending his own barren run of 13 games without a goal.

The 30-year-old has been in and out of the team this season, making 35 appearances in total - 16 off the bench - and scoring five goals and, when asked to sum up his season so far, he simply answered: "OK, nothing more than that I would say."

With Glenn Murray out of form recently, Easter has been getting more game time of late but he did admit it was disappointing to have spent a large chunk of the season warming the bench.

"When I was left out of the team this season I was obviously disappointed," he said.

"The manager gave me his reasons and I respect that, I respect Dougie Freedman.

"All you can do is come in every day, work hard and train hard and, hopefully, the opportunity will come around.

"I have had a run of late so that was pleasing."

Easter has earned praise for his work-rate this season but the former Wycombe Wanderers man would rather be getting clapped on the back for finding the back of the net.

"I can run until the cows come home but at the end of the day I want to score goals, that's the top and bottom of it," he said.

"I know people appreciate the work rate but for me it is about scoring goals, when I am not scoring I am not happy.

"It was a relief to get on the scoresheet on Tuesday."
