The trial into the murder of a man during an alleged attempted robbery has collapsed after the jury failed to reach a decision.
Daniel Tesfay, 26, was accused of murdering Jonathan Barnes, 20, at an address in Morland Road, Croydon in August last year.
Mr Tesfay, who denies the charge, alongside one of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, now faces a retrial after a jury failed to reach a majority verdict at a trial at the Old Bailey.
After a month long trial the jury was discharged on Thursday March 29.
Previously the court heard how Mr Tesfay and Barnes travelled to Croydon to buy Rolex watches.
It is alleged the pair planned to rob the sellers of the goods, which were fake, and after an altercation Barnes, from Lewisham, was shot in the head and died.
A hearing is scheduled at The Old Bailey on Tuesday April 3 to arrange a retrial date.
