Hundreds of kites took to the skies on Saturday as part of the annual Streatham Common Kite Day.

With only light winds in the morning there were concerns that the event would'nt take off, but fortunately they picked up by the afternoon allowing some truly stunning performances.

Featured during the day were professional kite demonstrations from the Brighton Kite Fliers, Team Spectrum and Andrew Beattie.

Organiser, Bob Colover, said: "It was a good day and lots and lots of people turned up.

"One of the highlights was Team Spectrum, comprised of father and son combo Bryan and Carl, who put on a fantastic display.

"Another team called the Indian Runners also kept everyone entertained.

"I'd like to thank all of the stewards, helpers and volunteers from the Friends of Streatham Common."

In addition to kite-flying there were a number of stalls including a hog roast, a bouncy castle and face painting.
