Two of the builders injured in the explosion at Croydon police station continue to recover.
One of the contractors, who was working for Vinci Construction UK, was taken to St George’s Hospital and was in a critical condition following the blast at the station on March 20.
But it has been confirmed his condition has improved and he no longer faces life-threatening injuries.
A second man, who was airlifted to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, is also improving but has not yet been discharged.
More than 100 staff and 14 prisoners had to be moved to south Norwood police station following the blast in a decommissioned firing range in the basement of the station in Park Lane.
The incident happened at about 11.30am and prompted a massive emergency response as fire crews and ambulances descended upon the station.
The building was evacuated and all operations moved to south Norwood as fire crews attempted to make the building secure.
By about 5pm the fire had been extinguished and the basement was being pumped after it had flooded while firefighters put out the blaze.
The Health and Safety Executive are currently investigating the cause of the explosion.
