Police have revealed they are looking for a second man in connection with the murder of Chris Isted.

The 25-year-old was fatally stabbed outside the Ship pub in High Street, Croydon, on Saturday at about 2am.

A 30-year-old was arrested and has since been bailed to return to a south London police station on May 23.

Police have said they are seeking the whereabouts of a second man, described as black, believed to be in his late 20s and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall.

An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

He said: "We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation no matter how small they think it is.

"We would urge anyone who was in the area at the time who might have seen or heard something to come forward."

Giving evidence at Mr Isted’s inquest, which was opened at Croydon Coroner’s Court today, Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola said Mr Isted likely knew his attacker, but it was unclear how well.

He revealed both parties had been drinking in the pub before a fight broke out in the doorway.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene but despite efforts to resuscitate him, Mr Isted was pronounced dead at the scene.

His friend Kevin Millward was also stabbed and taken to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

An autopsy into the death of Mr Isted today revealed he had died from a stab wound to the heart.

The inquest has been adjourned.
