A teenage cannabis addict who turned to drug dealing to pay for his habit has promised to turn his life around.

The 16-year-old, from Raynes Park, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was caught with heroin and crack cocaine in Grand Drive, Raynes Park, on November 15, 2011.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing the drugs with intent to supply and for having a 'lock knife'.

When questioned about why he had a knife, police said he responded: “So what?”

The teen, who appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on April 6, told the court he got involved in drug dealing to pay for his cannabis addiction.

He said: “I just wanted to make some money but I started using drugs and that made me get into debt.

“I’m going to try and stop using cannabis. It’s going to take some time but I can do it slowly.”

He was given an 18-month supervision order, which included a three-month curfew and 91 days of intensive supervision in which he must attend a training course.
