A rotating paper wheel that maps out walking trials promoting the hidden history of Kingston, is set to be launched.

Graphic designer Paul Farrington, lead artist and designer at Brighton-based Studio Tonne, came up with the invention, which maps out five unique walks designed to unravel a collection of histories related to Kingston.

Jacqueline Thomas, from Kingston’s Stanley Picker Gallery, says: "The wheel lets people explore places which they wouldn’t have noticed before. Kingston has a lot of history that is undetected.

"Individuals are given the opportunity to take a direct and planned out route, or have the option to choose their own personal route."

The project, commissioned by the Stanley Picker Gallery, has been funded by the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund and Design for London, to deliver new ways for pedestrians to enjoy Kingston.

Creator Paul Farrington will be leading each team of twelve through themed walks - Death, Bridges, Made Here, Muybridge and the Three Fishes with his navigation wheel.

Guided tours will begin at the Market House and will last approximately 45 minutes.
