Surrey’s Olympic preparations have been praised by the deputy chief of the committee organising this summer’s Games.
Sir Keith Mills, second in command at the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), said: "Surrey is one of the best counties in the country. It gets the big tick on pretty much every front, such as engagement in schools.
"Companies here have probably got more contracts than any other county in the country.
"You’ve got more training camps here. There will be athletes training here right the way up to the Games in the summer. On pretty much every count this county has done a great job."
Businesses in Surrey have won more than £740m worth of Olympic Games-related contracts and 31 Olympic and Paralympic teams will train in Surrey for the event.
Councillor Helyn Clack, Surrey County Council’s cabinet member for community services and the 2012 Games, said: "We’ve been working incredibly hard to help ensure Surrey benefits as much as possible from the Olympics and it’s great to get some recognition from Sir Keith."
