A group of environmentally-friendly shoppers came together to ban the plastic bag.
Shoppers were invited to The Mansel Road Centre in Wimbledon to stitch their own shopping bags in partnership with Morsbags – an environmentally friend initiative to reduce the use of plastic bags.
Juliet Boyd, who organised the event, said: “Plastic bags have many disadvantages.
"Morsbags is a movement started a few years ago to reduce their use.
“Groups of people meet to make attractive bags from fabric remnants using the same basic pattern.
The total made so far exceeds 106,000 and this was increased by a group in Wimbledon.
