A family were treated for smoke inhalation after a tumble dryer set on fire at a house in Ashtead.
Firefighters from Epsom Fire Station were called to Grove Road at 1.24am today to reports of a fire.
It is understood the tumble dryer set alight after it had been left on overnight, and oil on towels inside caused a thick black smoke.
The family of four who lived in the house, who were sleeping, were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms.
They were all treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene.
The fire was contained to the tumble dryer, but there was smoke logging throughout the house.
A firefighter who was on scene said Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's advice was not to leave appliances on overnight while sleeping.
