Pub landlords are not always the most friendly of characters, but one comedian’s parody of a typical boozer owner had the audience in stitches at a charity fundraiser in Streatham.

Popular stand-up Al Murray poked fun at almost all the unfortunates sitting in the front row during his special performance at the Hideaway jazz bar in Empire Mews.

The event on May 1, which raised more than £2500 for the Immanuel and St Andrews Primary School near Streatham Common, also saw performances from local funnymen Andy Zaltzman and Kevin Day.

Referring to the recent furore over Jo Brand’s comments about Streatham on Have I Got News For You, Mr Day greeted the audience with: “Hello sh**hole!”

Speaking after the event, Mr Murray tweeted: “Thanks for being such an amazing venue”.
