Children at risk of falling into crime are to get a range of extra help from the council.
Epsom and Ewell Council was selected by Services for Young People at Surrey County Council to provide activities focused on young people in the borough who are not in education, employment or training, and are at risk of falling into crime.
The activities will be run by the council in partnership with the police and the award-winning BEAT Project, a charity specialising in creative initiatives for vulnerable young people and disadvantaged communities in the South East.
Councillor Jan Mason, chair of the leisure committee, said: "We welcome any opportunity to help our young people and the council is committed to improving youth services.
"This project will focus on specific side-lined groups to get individuals into work, offering training and keeping them away from crime - not only benefiting them but also all those who live and work in the borough."
