The diamond jubilee is shaping up marvellously across Elmbridge and the council has already received more than 50 applications for street parties.

The Queen celebrates 60 years on the throne this year and the borough will celebrate in June with a series of parties and events.

To kick you off, here is a run-down of just some of the celebrations across Elmbridge.

Molesey Carnival kicks off on Saturday, June 2, with a float parade along Walton Road at 1.30pm.

The arena in Molesey recreation ground will then be opened up for a great jubilee jolly, complete with picnics, performances, dog show and stalls.

Hampton Court Palace will also honour its royal connections that day with a vintage 1950s garden party from 10am until 6pm.

The palace will recreate the classic street party with long tables, union flags and bunting in the East Front Gardens.

There will be free entertainment in the gardens for all the family throughout the day, including a brass band, Sooty and Sweep shows and retro fete games including egg and spoon races.

There will also be a children’s fancy dress competition for those who wish to come dressed as their favourite monarch.

Elsewhere on June 2, the mayor of Elmbridge will open a fair at St Christopher’s Church in Hinchley Wood.

The event at 1pm will have a fire engine, police car, line dancing demonstration, cake stall and licensed bar.

If you are looking for something to do in Weybridge you will not be disappointed, as Weybridge Town Business Group has arranged not one but three events for the town on Saturday, May 26.

Most of Weybridge’s restaurants will provide food for the event and there will be live music, an Elvis impersonator and fun fair to keep people entertained.

Festivities start on Monument Green, from 11am to 1pm, before moving to the Quadrant in Heath Road from 1pm until 3pm.

They will finish in Baker Street from 3pm until 6pm, which will be closed between Leaders and the High Street.
