Croydon is looking to emulate Hollywood’s star-studded boulevard and is asking for nominations from a list of the area’s most illustrates residents past and present.
To mark the opening of a new cycle and walking path linking Wandle and Lloyd Park through the town centre three life-sized portraits are to be commissioned of Croydon-associated stars.
Names such as comedian Ronnie Corbett, athlete Natasha Danvers, composer Samuel Coleridge Taylor and Archbishop John Whitgift, the founder of Whitgift School have been put forward by Croydon Council for the public to vote on.
The public art project, which will created by charity Sustrans, will be placed around a bench along the pathway.
Voting is open now on www.croydon.gov.uk, with a full list of candidates, and closes on June 16.
