A woman has been punched in the face on her own doorstep.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 30’s was attacked after answering her door in Addison Road, Caterham at 2.45pm on Sunday May 13.

She opened the door to a woman in her 30’s shouting abuse, who then punched her causing her to stumble backwards.

An ambulance crew treated her for swelling to her face and around her left eye.

Her attacker is described as 5ft 4in, of medium to large with short brown hair tied in a pony tail.

Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst, said: “The assault has left the victim shaken and frightened in her own home and Surrey Police will not tolerate behaviour of this kind.

“I would like people to think back to Sunday afternoon and if they saw a person or suspicious vehicle in the area around the time of the incident which may connect to contact officers as a matter of urgency as we need to find the person responsible.”

Officers have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries and reassurance patrols and urge anyone with concerns to contact the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
