Six men involved in a fight outside a Norbury cab office have been jailed for a total of 16 years.

The fight took place in the early hours of March 26, last year and involved nine men outside a cab office in London Road.

Some of the men were armed with planks of wood and metal bars.

Several of the men sustained serious injuries and required attention from paramedics.

Four men were arrested at the time of the fight, but none of them were willing to tell police why the fight took place.

Officers gathered CCTV images of the incident and pieced together the sequence of events, identifying a further two men involved in the fighting.

Despite none of the men making allegations against each other over the fight, six of them were eventually charged with violent disorder.

Those sentenced are Azmat Iqbal, 25, and Mohammed Iqbal, 56, both of Shrublands Avenue, Croydon, were jailed for 30 months and 24 months respectively.

Mahmood Hussain, 48, of Norbury Avenue, Thornton Heath, was jailed for 36 months and Sergiu Zoltan, 22, of Norwich Road, Thornton Heath, was jailed for 30 months.

Zulfiqar Shazhad, 34, of Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath, was sentenced to 36 months in prison, and Sohail Butt, 40, of Woodmansterne Road, Streatham, was also jailed for 36 months.

DC Paul Barham, from Croydon CID said: "Despite refusing to cooperate with us during out investigations, we were determined to bring these men to justice as this level of violence is not acceptable.

"Working through the CCTV images, we were able to identify these six men involved and they have all been given jail sentences for violent disorder.

"This should send a message to anyone who thinks that committing these sorts of violent offences is acceptable.

"Even if the victims or suspects refuse to cooperate with police, we will do all that we can to bring violent offenders to justice."
