Office superstore Staples has ceased trading in Croydon eight months after it reopened following the riots.

The store on Whitehorse Road, was badly damaged in last August's disorder after being targeted by looters.

The branch reopened more than a month after the riots, but today confirmed it has closed for good.

It is understood the decision to close the store followed a company review, which concluded the Croydon branch location failed to meet the their business requirements.

Staff members will have the opportunity to apply for positions at other branches.
