‘BURN in hell’ were the last words a convicted killer heard as he was jailed for life for beating a woman unconscious, raping her repeatedly and pushing her over a bridge into a river.

They came from the lips of Donald Andrews’s victim who has been left in a wheelchair after she suffered a broken pelvis in the attack.

She watched as the 48-year-old was told he may never be released for the ordeal he inflicted on her.

It started in the early hours of September 18 last year when he took her back from the Star and Garter pub in Bromley High Street to his flat in nearby Tweedy Road.

Instead of letting her phone for a taxi he double locked the door, beat her up and raped her several times throughout the night and into the next day.

Woolwich Crown Court heard Andrews then made her take a bath and wash her hair in an attempt to destroy forensic evidence before he told her he would take her to the train station.

Instead he then took her to a wooded area near the River Quaggy where he raped her again.

Tana Adkin, for the prosecution, said: “He told her that he had raped and killed before and that his plan was to kill her and chop her into pieces.

“Then he picked her up and threw her over a railing into the water.

“Mr Andrews left her for dead.”

Andrews pleaded guilty to all charges.

As well as the life sentence Andrews was also given a five year sentence for false imprisonment and a five year sentence for actual bodily harm, to be served concurrently.

His victim’s impact statement

Before sentencing the victim's impact statement was read out in court.

In it the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "Before this happened I was a very sociable and outgoing person.

“More than anything I loved to dance. I had several auditions with T4 and I felt my life could not have been better.

“Since this happened I feel that my life is over. I’m a shadow of my former self and I live in fear.

“I can never get away from the pain.

“I live next to some woods, something I loved before this happened but now I cannot stand the sight of the trees.

“Whenever I hear the trees rustle it reminds me of how scared I was.

“I’m terrified of the water because it reminds me of how he made me scrub my body and now the thought of me having a bath makes me feel sick.

“After the attack it was impossible for me to maintain any sort of relationship with my girlfriend.

"Before this I had a normal sex life, now I feel nothing but emptiness.

“I have tried many times to go out but every time I get to the door my legs stop working and I start to cry.

"I want to be able to go out again and be normal.

"I have given up hope of being able to dance again but I want to be able to walk again.

"Every time I close my eyes I can see his face and feel the weight of him on me.

"He told me he would cut out my tongue so I could not tell the police and cut off fingers so I could not type and burn my eyes so I could not see.

"He told me he had done this before and that he would not go back to prison.

"Sometimes I wake up with blood under my fingernails from scratching myself at night."
