A man was shot in the groin in an air gun attack after leaving Sopranos Barbershop in Walton.

Surrey Police issued an appeal for witnesses after the attack on Saturday, May 26.

The 26-year-old victim had just left barbershop in Terrace Road and was walking back to his motorbike when the first air gun pellet hit his helmet.

A few moments later he was shot again and hit in the groin.

At St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey he was found to have minor injuries including bruising to his upper legs.

Detective Constable John Hobbs said: “This was a concerning incident where a young man has been the victim of a completely unprovoked and senseless attack.

“The assault took place in broad daylight in a busy street so I feel certain that other pedestrians or motorists passing through the area would have seen something out of the ordinary.

“I cannot stress enough how dangerous it is to fire BB guns or any other type of air weapon in a public place.

“Fortunately the victim sustained only minor injuries on this occasion, but it’s clear that such irresponsible actions could easily have had a more serious outcome and such appalling behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, which occurred between 5pm and 6pm, should call police on 101, quoting reference EL/12/3416, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
