By Stuart Wallace; Queens Road, Wimbledon
Thank you for your reports on fair parking (‘Join our fight for fair parking’, May 24).
There is another side to this story, of course, and that is Merton Council not doing enough to prevent illegal parking, for example in my street there is no attempt to enforce the parking regulations, particularly at school opening/closing times.
This creates great difficulties for pedestrians, local residents and other drivers as roads and access ways are blocked.
Merton Council and the traffic police also refuse to consistently enforce repeated red light "jumping" by vehicles at the traffic lights on Queens Road adjacent to Centre Court.
This is highly dangerous - a camera would solve the problem but the one they have is directed away from the lights themselves.
So my suggestion to the Council is to reassess where they put their enforcement efforts.
