A train has derailed outside East Croydon causing chaos for morning commuters.
Platform one has been closed and platform two will be shut from 10am to 12pm after an engineering train belonging to Network Rail came off the line at 4am, according to Southern Rail.
A Southern Rail spokesman said passengers can expect delays for up to 15 minutes.
A Network Rail spokesman said no one was hurt in the partial derailment and that the train should be back on the line by this afternoon.
“We apologise to passengers for any delays caused and we advise them to check with their train operating company or Network Rail enquiries before travelling,” he said.
“We don’t know the cause of it as yet but that is something we are looking into.
“We hope to have the situation sorted before this afternoon's peak times.”
