The knitted ducks at the heart of a yarnbombing stunt in Carshalton are flying off the shelves.

Already 13 ducks have been sold after the Sutton Guardian teamed up with the elusive Woolly Coven of Carshalton to raise money for Headley Court soldiers hospital.

The Coven, who made the ducks to decorate the North Street Bridge in Carshalton for the Queen's Jubilee weekend, said they are delighted with the pubic response so far.

"We are so pleased people want to adopt one of the ducks. We like to think they brought a smile to the borough."

"The response has been fantastic, we'd like to make sure that all 40 ducks get adopted so that they have new homes where people can look at them and remember that Wanda and the Woolly Coven first struck on Jubilee weekend."

"As well as all the fun had by all a great local forces charity will benefit from the donations."

So far £130 has been raised and more cheques are expected to arrive in the coming days.

There are a total of 38 up for grabs.

If you would like to adopt a duck, send a cheque for £10 made payable to SFAS DMRC HEADLEY COURT to James Pepper, Floor 10, Quadrant House, The Quadrant, Sutton, SM2 5AS.

Successfully adopted ducks will be sent out in the coming weeks and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
