In May Sainsbury’s Balham announced a community event to run a drawing competition for the local children to help celebrate the Jubilee. All participants were provided with one A4 piece of bunting and they had to draw ‘What The Queens Jubilee Means To Me’ on it.

Sainsbury’s Balham had a fantastic response and received an incredible 195 flags from children aged between 2-11years. Store Manager Wayne Vidler said “It was incredible to have such community spirit and see such a large number of children in the area get involved. We had some fantastic drawings and it was a difficult task trying to decide on our winners.”

Entries came in from local schools, community centres, nurseries and customers of the store.

There were six lucky winners from the bunting competition who will each be receiving a prize over the forthcoming week.

From everyone at Sainsbury’s Balham we would like to thank all the children who got involved and especially our six lucky winners Zaynab aged 8, Roos-Rani aged 3, Jessie aged 9, Isabel aged 5, Jayda-Lea aged 3, Anaah aged 6.

If you didn’t get a chance to see the flags they are going to be on display again during The London FolkFest that the Bedford Pub are hosting between 19th – 22nd July so come and have a look.
