Cobham Free School has appointed one of its trustees as headteacher.
The community-led school held two recruitment rounds and the 15 trustees eventually appointed Michaela Khatib as headteacher.
Mrs Khatib, who lives in Cobham, currently works as a partnerships and outreach education manager at Yehudi Menuhin School.
Following her appointment, she stepped down as a trustee.
The free school is due to open its doors in the former Cobham police station in Portsmouth Road in September 14.
It will cater for reception, year 1 and year 2 in its first year.
