New morning session for rocking singers
Budding singers are being invited to take part in Rock Choir, with a new morning session added for singers.
The choir is the UK's largest amateur contemporary choir and boasts more than 16,000 members.
It recently featured in ITV1 documentary The Choir That Rocks and offers singers the change to perform pop, gospel, chart and Motown.
A new morning singing session is launching in Croydon from September, with interested singers being offered free 90 minute taster sessions.
Choir leader Rebecca Clegg already runs rehearsals in Caterham, Oxted, East Grinstead as well as evening sessions in the borough.
Participants can make new friends while developing singing skills, with options to perform during events.
There are no auditions needed to join the choir, which attracts people of all ages and levels of experience.
Ms Clegg said: "It's amazing that most people who come along to try out Rock Choir don’t necessarily think they are very good singers at all.
"We firmly believe anyone can sing, and the beautiful rich sound the choir makes after just a few rehearsals is incredible.
"We're offering the free taster session so people know what to expect when the new term starts in September. There's been lots of interest already."
The choir has released two albums and appeared on the Paul O'Grady Show, BBC Breakfast and The One Show.
Morning sessions are taking place on Thursdays in St Mary's Anglican Church, Purley Oaks Road, Sanderstead from 11am.
