A physiotherapist from St Helier Hospital was one of hundreds of NHS staff to take part in the Olympic opening ceremony.

Helen Reed, 49, from Sutton, appeared as one of the nurses in the Danny Boyle production in the Olympic stadium on Friday night.

The lead inpatient neuro-physiotherapist at the hospital, who got to dance in front of the Royal Box, said: "It was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish."

"The moment when we walked out in the stadium was unbelievable."

She put in more than 150 hours of rehearsals in months leading up to the event after St Helier Hospital had received a request for staff to take part in the ceremony.

She said: "I'm proud of working for the NHS and I think it was fantastic to be represented in that way."
