Neighbours to where a body was discovered in a lock-up in New Malden have expressed their shock this morning.

Police arrived at the scene in Lime Court, off Lime Grove, New Malden, at 7pm yesterday, believed to be part of the search for missing oil executive Carole Waugh.

No formal identification has taken place, but police have released an appeal for information after making 10 arrests and yeserday's disc

Tali0 Zare, 23, works from home and her flat overlooks the garages where the body was found.


She said: “It’s usually quiet around here.


“The only thing I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks is some teenage boys hanging around outside my flat, but nothing more than that.


“There’s been no unusual guys coming around that I’ve noticed.


“It’s very scary knowing that something like this has happened just next door to me.


“I don’t feel safe in my own home.”

Another man, who lives in a neighbouring property, but did not wish to be named, said: “I can see the garages from my window.


“I saw police there this morning, but I don’t know anything more than that.


“The first I heard about it was on the news. I haven’t heard anything unusual.”

Coombe Road resident Karen Tucker, 27, said: “It’s very quiet around here, nothing usually happens.


“There’s some noise from the primary school up the road, but since they’ve been on holiday it has been even more quiet.


"I haven’t noticed anything unusual.


“Something quite severe like this found on your doorstep is always going to be scary.”

•A 47-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder is among 10 people in custody over Miss Waugh's disappearance. He was detained at Luton airport on Tuesday on suspicion of kidnap and conspiracy to defraud, but subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.
