Britain's most famous archaeological site was blown up in Wandsworth last Thursday.

Sacrilege, a life-size inflatable replica of Stonehenge, brought delight to young and old alike.

It is the brainchild of Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and was set up in Clapham Common for one day only.

Visitors were invited to bounce on the artwork, as well as offer their images to the gods by uploading pictures of themselves onto Flickr in a bid to create an online clan.

The bouncy tribute to British history has been on tour around the UK as part of the 2012 celebrations.

Mr Deller said: "A lot of my work deals with history, and Sacrilege is no exception, this is a way to get reacquainted with ancient Britain with your shoes off."

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "You don't have to be a specialist in ancient British history or an acolyte of the summer solstice ritual to be aware of the unending fascination that Stonehenge continues to inspire around the world.

"Jeremy Deller's Sacrilege is a wonderfully witty, quite literal leap into that history and a fantastic example of the irreverence that are hallmarks of our great British humour and our incomparable artists."
