If you can’t beat them, join them.
That appears to be the attitude of this pensioner who drove his mobility scooter on the one way system along Fairfield North on Sunday.
The elderly driver carried on along the road for a couple of minutes, apparently oblivious to the toots and beeps from motorists, before turning on to Wheatfield Way, according to Louise Wood, who took the photo.
Mrs Wood, who works for John Lewis, said she was concerned for his safety.
She said: “It looked dangerous. I was a bit worried about him. He was waving his walking stick and flashing it in the air. It was really bizarre, and something you just don’t expect to see.
“Everybody was beeping him but he didn’t even seem to notice and just carried on along the road.
“I don’t know what happened to him after he turned off.”
The road is one of the busiest in Kingston. Last year there was a multiple car smash which hospitalised two people.
