Carshalton College is working in partnership with Building Lives and Sutton Housing Partnership to provide The Building Lives Training Academy. Opening in September 2012 the academy will be offering 25 paid apprenticeship opportunities to local people living in the London Borough of Sutton.

How do I apply?

Assessment days are being held on 14th - 16th August 2012 at Carshalton College.

Who can apply?

If you are aged 16 or over and not in full time education, training and/or employment and looking to pursue a career in construction you can apply.

What’s involved?

The course starts with a Build Up introduction to construction week (5 days). Upon completion of the Build Up week successful candidates will progress onto the Level 1, 10 week accredited course in basic construction skills, including plumbing, carpentry, tiling and painting and decorating. Having completed the 10 week course participants will have gained a recognised qualification and skills to get on in the workplace.

Following this participants will complete a 16 month paid apprenticeship with one of Sutton Housing Partnerships' contractors. Participants will work towards gaining a Level 2 qualification in maintenance operations.

The Academy aims to offer local residents opportunities to train and learn skills that will help gain work in the construction industry.
