CROY Plans for Whitgift Quarter go on show
Plans for the complete redevelopment of the north end of Croydon Town Centre are set to go on show.
Retail company Hammerson, who bought Centrale last year for £100m, hope to add The Whitgift Centre site to their portfolio to create the Whitgift Quarter, incorporating both shopping centres into one large scale redevelopment.
Plans went on show in Centrale outside Cafe Giardino on Monday, and will also be available to view in North End, between the two shopping centres from tomorrow through to Saturday.
Robin Dobson, Hammerson director for retail development, said: "We’ve spent many months working on our plans, and listening to local people’s views about what they want to see from the redevelopment of Croydon.
"But there’s still time for more people’s views to be heard, and this exhibition, and the launch of the Whitgift Quarter website, is an important part ensuring the scheme meets the needs of people who live and work in the town."
Representatives from the project team will be on hand to explain the scheme, talk to members of the public and answer any questions.
The two public exhibitions are open from 10am to 5pm every day bar Thursday when they will be open from noon to 8pm.

Years of arguing, shops close as they can't renew their lease, some are torn down and suddenly the schemes are abandoned and we are left with a hole in the centre of our town.
Ask the people of Bradford about their new mall that should of opened years ago. They flattened the centre of their town, only for the scheme to stop. http://en.wikipedia.
