John Challis, aka Boycie, is coming to Croydon for the launch of the second part of his autobiography Boycie and Beyond.

The Only Fools and Horses star fell in love with the town after fans turned out in their droves during his previous visit, and picked Croydon as the location to host the launch at Waterstone’s in the Whitgift Centre on Thursday, September 20, from 2pm to 4.30pm.

He was in Croydon in November 2011 as part of a book signing of the first instalment of the autobiography, Being Boycie.

Speaking at the time he said: “I love the chance to meet fans of the show. Without their interest we would be nothing.”

Challis, who left Only Fools to star in his own spin-off series, The Green Green Grass between 2005 and 2009, also had success during a theatre tour, travelling the UK with co-star Sue Holderness, otherwise known as Marlene.

The 70-year-old put out a video inviting Croydon fans to join him at the launch earlier this year, thanking Croydon fans for their support and asking them to joining him on September 20.

He said: “Last year I got to meet fans from all over the country. You came out in your masses, non-more-so than in Croydon, and that is why I am very proud to launching Boycie and Beyond in Waterstone’s Croydon. It is a great read, no, in fact I would say it is a must read.”

Fans who turn up to see Challis will also have the chance to win a signed boxset of the entire series of Only Fools and Horses on DVD.
