A man has admitted stabbing father-to-be Chris Isted to death outside a town centre pub.

Carlton McKay, 27, changed his plea to guilty at a hearing at The Old Bailey this morning ahead of a trial due to start on Monday.

McKay, of St Paul’s Road, Thornton Heath, admitted stabbing 25-year-old Mr Isted in the heart outside the Ship Pub in the early hours of March 31.

He also pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, after stabbing Mr Isted's friend Kevin Millward during the same incident

Mr Isted, who was a keen BMX rider, was due to become a father and was employed by London South TPS business as a van driver delivering parts to body shops and independent garages.

McKay will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on October 26.
