Residents and businesses are invited to a meeting to start the process of discussing the future of Croydon Old Town.

The meeting has been organised for October 18, at 7.30pm and will be held in the Church Hall, Church Street.

Discussion will centre around which improvements might be made to buildings, streets, public spaces and transport links in the area.

All local residents and businesses are invited and the council is keen for as many people as possible to come along to hear about the work that is currently underway and share their own thoughts.

This project leads on from similar masterplanning exercises that have already led to the improvement work currently underway around East and West Croydon.

Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and transport, said: "Following the success of this approach in other parts of central Croydon we are turning our focus on the Old Town.

"This area plays a key role in the way the whole town centre works and it gives historic context to the more modern streets nearby.

What we already know is there are several under-utilised spaces and plenty of streets that need a general uplift.

"The final vision we are working towards is one that will see new life breathed back into the whole area and the creation of clear routes and links that will draw more people and more businesses to this part of the town."

The Croydon Old Town Business Association is part of the project board and can be contacted at secretary@oldtowncroydon.org.uk.
