Poster of Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha hits the South Circular

First published in

“He’s just too good for you.” These are the words drivers on the South Circular will be seeing as they look up at a giant version of Palace's Wilfried Zaha.

The skilful winger has been in scintillating form for the Eagles this season, scoring four goals in his last two games and helping Dougie Freedman’s side to six wins in seven games.

The six metre by six metre poster, part of the club’s South London and Proud campaign, was created by the club’s design department and associate director Dean Williams, who is also a director of billboard company Outdoor Plus Ltd.

It is situated at the cross roads between Streatham Hill, Brixton Hill, Streatham Place and Christchurch Road.

Fans have adopted Verdi’s Rigoletto classic, La Donna e Mobile, as Zaha's song but replaced the lyrics with “He’s just too good for you.”

It has proved popular in the stands and with Palace’s co-chairman Stephen Browett.

He said: “He’s just too good for you is a chant from the Crystal Palace fans that has been heard in more and more Championship football grounds recently.

“It was great to hear It sung at Old Trafford last year. As a Palace fan myself since 1969 it is thrilling to see another player developed by our club to follow in the distinguished footsteps of such names as Steve Kember, Kenny Sansom, Ian Wright, Gareth Southgate and Victor Moses.

“At Palace we are all immensely proud of Wilfried who is yet another graduate of our hugely successful Academy.

He said: “Wilfried has over 100 first team appearances for the club already but is still a teenager and continues to flourish and develop under the management of Dougie Freedman who has coached him since he was 14.

“He is an integral part of a team that is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting Palace sides that I have seen in all my time as a fan of the club. Long may that continue.”
