Croydon council granted closure order for nuisance flat in New Addington

A nuisance flat in New Addington has been made the subject of a closure order.

Families living close to the property in Lodge Lane, complained their lives were made a misery by anti-social behaviour which included drug-taking, loud music, abuse and intimidation.

Croydon Council was granted a three-month closure order on October 9, which prevents anyone from entering or staying at the property.

The council are now looking to take possession of the flat which is home to 25-year-old Ronald Ssuna.

Neighbours complained of drug dealing and that groups of intimidating hooded youths entered the home on a daily basis.

One neighbour told anti-social behaviour officers they were too scared to even leave their flat, while another said their life had been "hell" and they couldn't sleep.

Councillor Dudley Mead, deputy leader of the council, said: "Nobody should have to tolerate antisocial behaviour. It is simply unacceptable, and the council will not hesitate to take action.

"We’re delighted a closure order has been granted and hope this brings an end to the disorder and nuisance that residents have endured."
