Andy Stranack is the Conservatives candidate for Croydon North
The Conservative party have announced Andy Stranack as their candidate for the Croydon North by-election.
Mr Stranack was born in Croydon and worked with the late Labour MP Malcolm Wicks, to help establish the Croydon Disability Forum.
He has also worked for Croydon Jubilee Church as a Community Development Worker, helping to set up a number of community services including a debt advice service, a lunch club for the retired, several youth clubs and a job club.
Mr Stranack, who is also a member of the West Croydon Community Forum, said: "It is a great honour to try and fill Malcolm's shoes.
“I am passionate about Croydon and its wonderful, diverse communities and I know that by working together we can make the area an even better place to live and work.”
Yesterday UKIP announced Winston McKenzie as their Parliamentary candidate, while Marisha Ray was selected for the Liberal Democrats.
A date has not yet been confirmed for the by-election.
